Welcome to your new folding electric bike! This guide will walk you through the assembly process step-by-step. Most folding e-bikes arrive 85-95% assembled and can be ready to ride in 30-45 minutes.
🛠️ Tools You'll Need
- Allen wrench set (usually included)
- Adjustable wrench or 15mm wrench
- Phillips screwdriver
- Tire pump with pressure gauge
- Wire cutters (for zip ties)
📦 What's in the Box
- Folding electric bike frame (partially assembled)
- Front wheel (may be pre-installed)
- Pedals (left and right marked)
- Battery and charger
- User manual and tool kit
- Reflectors and accessories
⚙️ Step-by-Step Assembly
Step 1: Unbox and Inspect
- Carefully remove bike from packaging
- Remove all zip ties and protective foam
- Inspect frame for any shipping damage
- Lay out all parts and verify against packing list
Step 2: Unfold the Frame
- Locate the main folding hinge (usually mid-frame)
- Release the folding latch or quick-release lever
- Carefully unfold the frame until it locks into riding position
- Secure the folding latch - you should hear/feel it click
- Double-check that the frame is fully locked and secure
Step 3: Install Handlebars
- Remove handlebar stem from packaging
- Loosen the stem clamp bolts
- Insert handlebars into stem, align straight forward
- Adjust to comfortable height
- Tighten stem bolts evenly (don't overtighten)
- Ensure handlebars are centered and secure
Step 4: Install Front Wheel (if not pre-installed)
- Slide wheel into front fork dropouts
- Ensure wheel is centered in fork
- Tighten quick-release lever or axle nuts
- Spin wheel to check for wobble or rubbing
- Connect front brake cable if needed
Step 5: Install Pedals
- Identify LEFT (L) and RIGHT (R) pedals - they're marked
- RIGHT pedal: Thread clockwise (normal threading)
- LEFT pedal: Thread counter-clockwise (reverse threading)
- Hand-tighten first, then use wrench to secure firmly
- Ensure both pedals are tight and spin freely
Step 6: Install and Charge Battery
- Locate battery compartment (usually on frame or rear rack)
- Insert battery and turn key to lock
- Charge battery fully before first ride (4-6 hours)
- LED indicator will show charging status
Step 7: Adjust Seat Height
- Loosen seat post quick-release or clamp
- Adjust seat to proper height (slight knee bend when pedal is at bottom)
- Ensure seat post doesn't exceed MAX line
- Tighten quick-release firmly
Step 8: Check Tire Pressure
- Check sidewall for recommended PSI (usually 30-50 PSI)
- Inflate tires to recommended pressure
- Check both tires are properly seated on rims
Step 9: Install Reflectors and Accessories
- Attach front and rear reflectors
- Install pedal reflectors
- Mount any included lights or fenders
- Attach bell or horn
Step 10: Final Safety Check
- ✅ Test folding mechanism - fold and unfold to ensure it locks properly
- ✅ Check all bolts are tight (handlebars, seat, wheels, pedals)
- ✅ Test brakes - both front and rear should engage smoothly
- ✅ Spin wheels - should rotate freely without rubbing
- ✅ Test electric system - turn on display, check battery level
- ✅ Test pedal assist and throttle (if equipped)
- ✅ Check lights and horn work properly

- Start in lowest pedal assist level to get familiar with power
- Practice folding/unfolding before taking on commute
- Test brakes in safe area before riding in traffic
- Wear a certified helmet every ride
- Keep battery charged - don't let it fully drain
