Folding Electric Bike Assembly Guide

Welcome to your new folding electric bike! This guide will walk you through the assembly process step-by-step. Most folding e-bikes arrive 85-95% assembled and can be ready to ride in 30-45 minutes.

🛠️ Tools You'll Need

• Allen wrench set (usually included)
• Adjustable wrench or 15mm wrench
• Phillips screwdriver
• Tire pump with pressure gauge
• Wire cutters (for zip ties)

📦 What's in the Box

• Folding electric bike frame (partially assembled)
• Front wheel (may be pre-installed)
• Pedals (left and right marked)
• Battery and charger
• User manual and tool kit
• Reflectors and accessories

⚙️ Step-by-Step Assembly

Step 1: Unbox and Inspect

1. Carefully remove bike from packaging
2. Remove all zip ties and protective foam
3. Inspect frame for any shipping damage
4. Lay out all parts and verify against packing list

Step 2: Unfold the Frame

1. Locate the main folding hinge (usually mid-frame)
2. Release the folding latch or quick-release lever
3. Carefully unfold the frame until it locks into riding position
4. Secure the folding latch - you should hear/feel it click
5. Double-check that the frame is fully locked and secure

Step 3: Install Handlebars

1. Remove handlebar stem from packaging
2. Loosen the stem clamp bolts
3. Insert handlebars into stem, align straight forward
4. Adjust to comfortable height
5. Tighten stem bolts evenly (don't overtighten)
6. Ensure handlebars are centered and secure

Step 4: Install Front Wheel (if not pre-installed)

1. Slide wheel into front fork dropouts
2. Ensure wheel is centered in fork
3. Tighten quick-release lever or axle nuts
4. Spin wheel to check for wobble or rubbing
5. Connect front brake cable if needed

Step 5: Install Pedals

1. Identify LEFT (L) and RIGHT (R) pedals - they're marked
2. RIGHT pedal: Thread clockwise (normal threading)
3. LEFT pedal: Thread counter-clockwise (reverse threading)
4. Hand-tighten first, then use wrench to secure firmly
5. Ensure both pedals are tight and spin freely

Step 6: Install and Charge Battery

1. Locate battery compartment (usually on frame or rear rack)
2. Insert battery and turn key to lock
3. Charge battery fully before first ride (4-6 hours)
4. LED indicator will show charging status

Step 7: Adjust Seat Height

1. Loosen seat post quick-release or clamp
2. Adjust seat to proper height (slight knee bend when pedal is at bottom)
3. Ensure seat post doesn't exceed MAX line
4. Tighten quick-release firmly

Step 8: Check Tire Pressure

1. Check sidewall for recommended PSI (usually 30-50 PSI)
2. Inflate tires to recommended pressure
3. Check both tires are properly seated on rims

Step 9: Install Reflectors and Accessories

1. Attach front and rear reflectors
2. Install pedal reflectors
3. Mount any included lights or fenders
4. Attach bell or horn

Step 10: Final Safety Check

1. ✅ Test folding mechanism - fold and unfold to ensure it locks properly
2. ✅ Check all bolts are tight (handlebars, seat, wheels, pedals)
3. ✅ Test brakes - both front and rear should engage smoothly
4. ✅ Spin wheels - should rotate freely without rubbing
5. ✅ Test electric system - turn on display, check battery level
6. ✅ Test pedal assist and throttle (if equipped)
7. ✅ Check lights and horn work properly

• Start in lowest pedal assist level to get familiar with power
• Practice folding/unfolding before taking on commute
• Test brakes in safe area before riding in traffic
• Wear a certified helmet every ride
• Keep battery charged - don't let it fully drain
