Electric Scooter Assembly Guide

Welcome to your new electric scooter! This guide will walk you through the assembly process. Most e-scooters arrive 90-95% assembled and can be ready to ride in 15-30 minutes.

🛠️ Tools You'll Need

  • Allen wrench set (usually included)
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Adjustable wrench (optional)
  • Tire pump (if pneumatic tires)

📦 What's in the Box

  • Electric scooter deck with motor(s)
  • Handlebar stem and grips
  • Battery and charger
  • User manual and tool kit
  • Reflectors and accessories
  • Kickstand (may be pre-installed)

⚙️ Step-by-Step Assembly

Step 1: Unbox and Inspect

  1. Carefully remove scooter from packaging
  2. Remove all zip ties and protective foam
  3. Inspect deck, stem, and wheels for damage
  4. Verify all parts against packing list
  5. Check motor and wiring are intact

Step 2: Unfold and Lock Stem

  1. Locate folding mechanism at base of stem
  2. Release folding latch or quick-release lever
  3. Carefully raise stem to upright position
  4. Ensure stem locks securely - you should hear/feel a click
  5. Double-check locking mechanism is fully engaged
  6. CRITICAL: Never ride with unlocked stem

Step 3: Install Handlebars

  1. Remove handlebar from packaging
  2. Loosen stem clamp bolts (usually 2-4 bolts)
  3. Insert handlebar into stem
  4. Align handlebars perpendicular to front wheel
  5. Adjust to comfortable height
  6. Tighten clamp bolts evenly - don't overtighten

Step 4: Connect Display and Throttle

  1. Connect display cable to main wiring harness
  2. Ensure throttle cable is properly connected
  3. Route cables neatly along stem
  4. Secure with zip ties if needed
  5. Test that cables don't interfere with folding mechanism

Step 5: Install Battery

  1. Locate battery compartment (usually in deck or stem)
  2. Insert battery and connect power cable
  3. Lock battery cover or turn key to secure
  4. Charge battery fully before first ride (4-8 hours)
  5. LED indicator shows charging status

Step 6: Check Tire Pressure (Pneumatic Tires)

  1. If your scooter has air-filled tires, check pressure
  2. Recommended PSI is usually on tire sidewall (40-50 PSI typical)
  3. Inflate to recommended pressure
  4. Solid tires require no inflation

Step 7: Install Kickstand

  1. If kickstand isn't pre-installed, attach to deck
  2. Use included bolts and Allen wrench
  3. Tighten securely
  4. Test that kickstand holds scooter upright

Step 8: Install Reflectors and Accessories

  1. Attach front and rear reflectors
  2. Install any included lights
  3. Mount phone holder if included
  4. Attach bell or horn

Step 9: Adjust Brakes

  1. Test brake lever - should engage smoothly
  2. Check brake cable tension
  3. For disc brakes, ensure pads align with rotor
  4. For drum brakes, test engagement
  5. Adjust cable tension if needed (see manual)

Step 10: Final Safety Check

  1. ✅ Stem is fully locked and secure
  2. ✅ Handlebars are tight and aligned
  3. ✅ All bolts are tightened
  4. ✅ Battery is charged and locked in place
  5. ✅ Display turns on and shows battery level
  6. ✅ Throttle responds smoothly
  7. ✅ Brakes engage and stop wheels
  8. ✅ Wheels spin freely
  9. ✅ Lights work (if equipped)
  10. ✅ Folding mechanism works smoothly

🛴 First Ride Tips

  • Start in a safe, open area away from traffic
  • Practice accelerating and braking smoothly
  • Test folding/unfolding mechanism before commuting
  • Start at lower speeds to get familiar with handling
  • Always wear a certified helmet
  • Check local laws - some areas restrict e-scooter use
  • Avoid riding in rain until you're experienced

⚡ Battery Care

  • Charge battery fully before first use
  • Don't let battery fully drain - charge at 20-30%
  • Store at 50-80% charge if not using for extended period
  • Avoid extreme temperatures (don't leave in hot car)
  • Use only the included charger

🔧 Maintenance Tips

  • Check tire pressure weekly (pneumatic tires)
  • Tighten all bolts monthly
  • Clean deck and wheels after wet rides
  • Lubricate folding mechanism occasionally
  • Inspect brake pads regularly
  • Keep battery contacts clean
