Welcome! I’m Jodie Stovall, the eye behind the lens at Western Montana Photos. My journey to professional photography has been shaped by a lifetime of exploring Big Sky Country, a deep background in real estate, and a passion for capturing the true spirit of the people, places, and moving pieces that make Montana incredible.
From the Plains to the Mountains
I’m a Montana native, born and raised in Billings. At 21, the pull of the mountains brought me to Kalispell, a place that instantly captured my heart. For years, I successfully navigated the local real estate market, helping people find their own piece of Montana paradise. When the market crashed, I used it as an opportunity to pivot, heading to the University of Montana in Missoula to earn my Bachelor of Science degree.
Eventually, life brought me back to my hometown of Billings for about six years. While there, I combined my love for cycling and community development to found BEST Repedal, an environmentally sustainable transportation nonprofit dedicated to refurbishing bicycles and promoting a greener future.
Finding My Way Home
Though I've been fortunate enough to do some traveling, it didn't take long to realize what I already knew deep down: Montana is the absolute best place on earth, and Kalispell is my true home. In late 2026, I officially moved back to the Flathead Valley to reconnect with the community and landscapes that ground me.
Passion Built on Experience
My life is driven by a few core passions: biking, real estate, and photography. Today, I bring all of those worlds together.
I often smile when I notice that many exceptional professional photographers belong to an older demographic. Now, I completely understand why. True professional photography isn’t just about pressing a shutter button; it requires a vast reservoir of life experience, patience, time, and relentless energy.
Whether I am capturing the architectural flow of a high-end real estate listing, the sleek lines of a classic car, or the fleeting glimpse of a bird in flight, my work is backed by decades of looking at the world with an operations-minded eye for detail.
